Why do IT type people wear those ID cards wherever they go ? Do they fear about getting wounded or killed ? Or is it sort of a medal ? It is funny when you spot it in a marriage album along with silk dhothi and the works.

When a new Guy gets a job in the IT company, may be for a week he would wear that as a medal....
Then it would appear like a hand cuff.... But still as he wears that in the office (where he stays most of the time)..thatz becoming an inherent part of him.. so a bit lazy to remove it..
also, with guys esp...u can see they wear the same pants for two days (or more) so better leave it...why should u remove it and then wear the next day....
even if you change ur pants that would be easy to find..just see in the pants that you wore the previous day...r8?

it's not just the IT companies. There are many (non-IT) corporates also insist on these tags now a days.
In fact wearing it after office hours in the city makes them pry for muggers. Muggers know for sure that these kids would have cash in hand.
Try catching an auto or doing a bargain with the tag. Very tuf to negotiate.
Muggers ? In Chennai ? That is news to me.
I can imagine the Auto drivers part not the muggers still.
I have not heard about muggers in chennai either. I mentioned that from my bangalore experience.
But auto-walas fill the shoes of muggers in chennai. My wife doesnt allow me to speak with auto-walas as I always end up in altercation with them.
